Wuppertal Plan: Successful Public Dialogue in a Tie
The Wuppertal Plan is intended to serve as a roadmap for urban development in the coming years. To ensure that city officials and policymakers plan and act in the best interests of the citizens, a public dialogue was held on June 27 at the Krawatte in Oberbarmen to gather input.
At this dialogue event, we wanted to learn about the everyday experiences of Wuppertal residents and what they hope for the city. After all, based on their daily experiences, residents know Wuppertal’s challenges and potential best.
The focus was on the topics of local government and services, education, integration and inclusion, the economy, research and employment, housing and the living environment, as well as culture, sports, leisure, and urban green spaces. The discussion addressed the challenges, opportunities, and possible courses of action that citizens see in each of these areas, with the goal of ensuring that Wuppertal remains a city worth living in and loving 15 years from now.
The city administration is currently analyzing the input from the citizen dialogue, and this feedback will be directly incorporated into the administration’s future work during a management retreat in September. The Wuppertal Plan is scheduled to be adopted by the City Council at its December meeting. You can find all further information about the process here.
