Stationsgarten and Lienhardplatz are the main gathering spots in Vohwinkel—places to meet up, celebrate, take a quick break, stroll through the market, find a sunny spot, ride the carousel, have a toast, grab a bite to eat, find a shady spot, run around, sit down, and then move on.
But are these places today suited to being all that—and more? What can Lienhardplatz and Stationsgarten offer? And what will they need in the future? This summer, landscape architects will present proposals for what Stationsgarten and Lienhardplatz could look like tomorrow.
Tell them what you need in the heart of Vohwinkel!
Over the next few years, many areas in the center of Vohwinkel are set to be redeveloped and reimagined. To this end, in 2024, the administration, residents, and political leaders of the Vohwinkel district developed a 10-year roadmap, which was approved by the city council. The Vohwinkel ISEK (Integrated Urban Development Concept) is this roadmap and covers, among other things, playgrounds and sports areas, the Stationsgarten, Lienhardplatz, and more.
Now it’s time to plan the two most important gathering areas in the center. Twelve planning firms will be drawing up designs this summer. Your spaces in Vohwinkel will be planned and designed by the experts. But they need your expertise—because you are the experts on Vohwinkel! We want to gather this collective knowledge and share it with the planning teams. Then, in the fall, a jury of technical experts and political representatives will select the winning design.
Of course, Lienhardplatz won’t turn into a swimming pool the day after tomorrow, and the Stationsgarten won’t be converted into a dirt bike track. Vohwinkel will still need a marketplace for your markets, festivals, and events, as well as a green space for sitting, playing, and chatting. But these spaces can do so much more! Clever landscape architects are combining the existing layout with your wishes and ideas! So that Stationsgarten and Lienhardplatz will become even more attractive in the future! What do these places in the heart of Vohwinkel mean to you? When and how do you spend time there? Or why not? Do you need more space to sit or run around? More grassy areas to lie down on or hedges to hide behind?
From May 20 to June 10, 2026, a three-week online engagement process will take place via our new engagement platform, KoodiKo. Anyone interested can submit their ideas and suggestions here. The link to the survey will be shared in a timely manner on this page and through our other communication channels.
On the last weekend of the participation period, on June 6 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., we’ll be in Vohwinkel in person to talk with anyone at Lienhardplatz or the Stationsgarten who’d like to discuss ideas for the future of these places with us.
We will document the results of the online survey and our on-site discussions and make them available to the planning firms for their use—they will become part of the design brief. Of course, there are also findings from the ISEK process based on the public engagement activities that have already taken place. These findings were preserved as a repository of ideas and made available to the teams.
In addition to all the other requirements for these sites and the landscape architects’ own design ideas, the results of the public engagement thus flow directly into the teams’ designs. Since the results are part of the design brief, the jury will also evaluate how well the suggestions were incorporated.
We have analyzed the results of the online survey and the feedback received at the event at Lienhardplatz. The survey results show a clear desire for a green, shaded, and inviting center in Vohwinkel. Participants in the survey placed particular importance on improving the quality of the public space, safety, cleanliness, and attractive connections between the train station, Lienhardplatz, and Stationsgarten. At the same time, Lienhardplatz should retain its important role as a venue for markets, festivals, and events, while the Stationsgarten should be strengthened as a green hub and Bahnstraße should be made brighter, safer, and easier to navigate.
