The city of Wuppertal and the social welfare services will host a specialized event in the fall of 2026 titled “Future Conference on Care 2036 in Wuppertal.” To help highlight your experiences, questions, and perspectives on the topic of care, you had the opportunity to participate in an online survey between May 8 and June 7.
You can find the analysis of the results at the bottom of the page. This analysis will serve as the basis for the conference. We will publish the results of the conference here.
Do you feel the same way? Do you tend to put off thinking about your own aging and the topic of long-term care? Yet these thoughts keep coming back? Still others among you are already deeply concerned about yourselves and your own long-term care situation and/or that of your loved ones.
In Wuppertal, the Social Services Office and representatives from social welfare organizations have taken on these issues and will host a specialized event in the fall of 2026 titled “Future Conference on Long-Term Care 2036 in Wuppertal.” To ensure that your experiences and thoughts as citizens are incorporated into the event, we invite you to participate in a survey around Care Day on May 12. After all, most of you will be confronted with the topic of long-term care in the future! Thank you very much in advance!
It is particularly important to us to hear from you, the citizens of Wuppertal, because on the day of our expert event, we want to take your care-related topics, concerns, experiences, and needs into account and give you a voice through this survey. What matters most to you? What obstacles have you encountered so far, and what do you think Wuppertal’s stakeholders need to consider when planning for the future of the care sector?
Your participation is of great importance to us, as it helps us assess the current landscape of care services, identify gaps in care, and plan for the future in a way that meets actual needs.
You’ll be helping us a great deal if you take part inour survey between May 8, 2026, and June 7, 2026. This will allow all stakeholders in the care sector and the city administration to gain valuable insights into your needs, wishes, and suggestions regarding care and the future of care in Wuppertal, and to incorporate these insights into concrete planning efforts.
Your responses will be analyzed and incorporated into the “Future of Care 2036 Conference in Wuppertal” as a key focus area. In particular, the most important feedback will be shared with the event’s thematic discussion groups so that your perspectives can enrich the experts’ deliberations.
Through targeted public outreach, we will present both the survey results and the outcomes of the Future Conference in an accessible format and publish them on this project page and through the media.

The survey results were analyzed by our service provider: The survey shows that people in Wuppertal want, above all, to be able to live independently at home for as long as possible if they require care. To achieve this, they consider support in daily life, easy access to services, barrier-free routes, and flexible outpatient assistance to be particularly important. For many, good care means above all humanity, dignity, sufficient time, and consideration of individual needs. The biggest challenges are perceived to be problems with the transition from the hospital to continued care, as well as bureaucratic hurdles when dealing with health and long-term care insurance providers. Technical assistance is generally welcomed when it promotes safety and independence, but it should not replace human care.

The five thematic focuses of the survey will be addressed at five thematic roundtables during the conference. The analyzed survey results will serve as the basis for the roundtable discussions.
