Citizen Participation Advisory Board: Places to be allocated
The Citizen Participation Advisory Board is looking for committed citizens.
Since 2018, Wuppertal has had the Citizen Participation Advisory Board consisting of members of the public, politicians and the administration. With the new council term, the advisory board will also be newly formed. From 15.09.-13.10.2025, interested parties can apply to the Citizen Participation and Civic Engagement team for a place:
- By e-mail to buergerbeteiligung@stadt.wuppertal.de
- In person at the Citizen Participation and Civic Engagement team in Barmen Town Hall, 1st floor
- By letter to Team Bürgerbeteiligung und Bürgerengagement, Johannes-Rau-Platz 1, 42275 Wuppertal
- By telephone on 0202-563-2351 (Mara Brinkmann) or -6138 (Nina Kotissek)
- Via social media (Instagram and Facebook: @talbeteiligung)
Applications must include first and last name, gender and age as well as contact details (e-mail address, postal address and telephone number). Based on this data, the aim is to ensure the fairest possible age and gender distribution. No further information or documents are required. Applicants must be at least 16 years old and resident in Wuppertal. No specific prior knowledge is required to serve on the advisory board. The advisory board is constituted for one council term, i.e. for five years. The work during these five years is honorary. The members are again expected to receive an attendance fee of € 62.40 per meeting attended. The meetings of the Advisory Board are generally open to the public and accessible without barriers. As a rule, the Advisory Board meets once a quarter.
Two information events are held for interested parties during the application phase:
- On October 07 at 6.00 p.m. in Barmen Town Hall: https://talbeteiligung.de/kalender#/?&cal_eventid=3749
- On October 08 at 12:30 p.m. via Zoom: https://talbeteiligung.de/kalender#/?&cal_eventid=3751
- If you are interested, please register for the respective date for better planning.
The events are free of charge. Drinks and snacks will be provided at the face-to-face event. If you require assistance, please contact us. Alternatively, you can also contact us directly to have your questions answered.
If more people apply for places than there are seats available on the advisory board, the decision will be made by drawing lots. All applicants will receive feedback by October 31 as to how the lot has been decided. The formal election of all advisory board members by the Wuppertal City Council is planned for November 2025.
