City starts work on the Wuppertal Plan
What will make Wuppertal a city worth living in 2041? In view of tight budgets and major social challenges, the city administration is setting a new course. With the "Wuppertal Plan", a long-term strategy is being developed that goes beyond day-to-day business. The special feature: Citizens are also to play a role in this.
The Wuppertal Plan is intended to serve as an overarching orientation framework for our city, defining the priorities to be set over the next 15 years.
The aim is to create a realistic picture of the future. With the Wuppertal Plan, the city wants to develop a strategy that fits in with the city's resources and identity. The aim is also to ensure that administration, politics and urban society pull together.
To this end, a participation event was held on 18.04.2026, at which key players from urban society (stakeholders) were specifically invited and provided initial impetus for the strategic direction of the plan.
A citizens' dialog will take place on 27.06.2026 , to which a random selection will also be made. This will give the citizens of the city of Wuppertal the opportunity to contribute their perspective on the topics of the Wuppertal Plan.
The Mayor's Office assumes overall operational responsibility for the Wuppertal Plan. The Valley Participation staff unit accompanies the process through the participation formats.
