Pop-Up Park: Results report now available!
The forecourt of the Alter Markt suspension railway station is to be redesigned in 2027. The city tried out various measures with the pop-up park from July 2024 to February 2026. The "Pop-Up Park" has since been dismantled after 1.5 years, as the space is needed for the renovation of the suspension railway station.
Between fall 2024 and summer 2025, we wanted to know how you liked the pop-up park. We have now evaluated the results of the participation so far and summarized them in a report. You can download it here .
Many see great potential in more greenery, seating and a higher quality of stay - at the same time, there is criticism of the cleanliness and maintenance of the square and conflicts of use are raised. The participation makes it clear that a lasting redesign can only succeed if design, safety, lighting and the needs of very different user groups are considered together.
As part of a final project, students from the Wuppertal "Public Interest Design" course have now developed proposals for various elements and areas of the square. In March, we want to know what you think of the students' proposals.
