Care of the Future: Survey Results Are In!

The City of Wuppertal and the social welfare services will host a specialized event in October 2026 titled “Future Conference on Care 2036 in Wuppertal.” To give voice to your experiences, questions, and perspectives on the topic of long-term care, you had the opportunity to participate in an online survey between May 8 and June 7.

Our service provider has now analyzed the survey results: The survey shows that people in Wuppertal above all want to be able to live independently at home for as long as possible if they require care. To achieve this, they consider support in daily life, easy access to services, barrier-free routes, and flexible outpatient assistance to be particularly important. For many, good care means, above all, humanity, dignity, sufficient time, and consideration of individual needs. The biggest challenges are perceived to be problems with the transition from the hospital to further care, as well as bureaucratic hurdles when dealing with health and long-term care insurance providers. Technical assistance is generally welcomed when it promotes safety and independence, but it should not replace human care.

The survey’s five key themes will be addressed at five thematic roundtables during the conference. The analyzed survey results will serve as the basis for the roundtable discussions. We will publish the results of the event on the project page in due course.
