Public participation in urban land-use planning

The City of Wuppertal is conducting an early public participation in the planning procedure for the 1st amendment to development plan 798 A - Markomannenstraße / Ludwigstraße - in accordance with Section 3 (1) of the German Building Code. The event will take place on Thursday, 26.6.2025 at 18:00 in the former Kreuzkirche, Friedrichstraße 1, 42105 Wuppertal. Registration is not required.

The planning is intended to initiate the conversion of the Diakoniekirche (formerly Kreuzkirche). The plan is to integrate office and training rooms in the form of glass cubes within the listed building. The legal planning requirements for commercial use do not currently exist, which is why an amendment to the development plan is required. Against the backdrop of social, demographic and economic changes, many churches are losing their function as places of religious practice in the long term. Creative and sustainable usage concepts are needed to open up new perspectives for these important buildings.

Citizens will be given the opportunity to find out about the planning and to contribute their suggestions and concerns to the planning process. The current planning status will be presented to the public on this evening by employees of the city administration and the project developer.
