Countdown is on: 1st youth budget starts in a week's time
May 11 marks the launch of the first youth budget in Wuppertal Barmen. The city is providing a budget of €50,000 so that young people's ideas for the district can be implemented.
The project is explicitly aimed at 14-21-year-olds in Barmen. They can submit ideas to the youth budget, discuss them together, develop them further and vote on all proposals at the end. In terms of content, there are no limits to the variety of ideas: whether leisure or school, sport or culture - all ideas are welcome in the project. That's why the young people and young adults are now being asked: What ideas do you have for the district? What should change? What is missing for young people in Barmen? A maximum of €15,000 is available for each idea. This means that at least four projects can be realized with the total budget of €50,000. Smaller ideas that get by with a smaller budget and thus increase the number of ideas that can be realized are also expressly welcome.
People outside the target group can also support the youth budget by drawing young people's attention to the project and supporting them in submitting and developing ideas. The Valley Participation Office is also working closely with the Youth Welfare Office and numerous multipliers to reach as many young people as possible.
We are excited about the launch in a week's time and look forward to the ideas. You can find more information about the project here.
